Ruby on Rails Developer

Geocode Earth is looking for an experienced freelance or contract Ruby on Rails developer to help us build and improve the backend of our SaaS product.
This backend is the foundation of all our customer experiences and we're always working to iterate and improve on it.

We're looking for a developer who has:
  • A preference for iterative, collaborative work that centers the people using and building the software over the technology itself
  • Experience working with and improving real world Ruby on Rails applications
  • Familiarity with other Rails-adjacent tools, especially Devise, Sidekiq, Redis, and PostgreSQL
  • Experience working productively on a 100% remote team
  • Knowledge of Stripe or other payment processing platforms
  • A timezone between UTC+01 and UTC-08 (Western Europe to US West Coast)
We'd especially like someone who has:
  • Worked with with React, golang, or Node.js
  • An interest in geospatial technology and especially geocoding
About the role

Candidates for this position would be primarily helping us build out all the billing, user account management, and backend processing functionality required by a SaaS application.

Ideally, we would find someone willing to commit to about 10 hours per week to start. Over time, we'd expect this to ramp up higher.

About Us

Geocode Earth is a small, bootstrapped company building quality geocoding software for a variety of customers. We create custom solutions for those who need it, and offer a reliable, easy to use API service for people who would rather not build their own.

Along the way, all our work is informed by our belief in the power of open-source software. We've been working on our core technology, Pelias, since 2013 at our previous company, Mapzen.

Please no agencies or recruiters, we are looking to hear from individual applicants only.
